FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the different Sax/DJ packages you offer?

The four main packages I offer are the Standard Package (Evening), Advanced Package (Full Day), Sax Only Basic Package (Day or Evening), and Sax Only Full Package (Full Day). More information can be found here.

I bring absolutely all the sound system and lighting equipment you will need for your given package- all the venue needs to provide is power!

Depending on your chosen package, this will include high-end sound systems setup for ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast (including wireless microphone for speeches and announcements) and evening party (evening sound system can cater for up to 500 people depending on chosen package), as well as high-end, festival/club grade moving head lights and uplighters if required.

More info on the exact setup and equipment used can be found here.

The usual layout for performance times (depending on your chosen package and event) would be- as required:

  • 1x30m sax set as guests arrive for ceremony (love songs, ballads or similar)

  • 4 special requests played during ceremony (or original tracks played from CD if preferred)

  • 3x30m sax sets during drinks reception (more upbeat music i.e. chart, pop, beach house, old

    classics)

  • If required- 2x20m sax sets during wedding breakfast (downtempo love songs, ballads, (smooth)

    jazz, swing, old classics)

  • Sax played throughout evening party in bursts (including a 5 hour live DJ set)

Anything and everything! I can DJ and play sax to any style of music, including but not limited to pop (radio chart and dance), house (deep/ classic/ tropical/ chilled/ commercial/ sax house), R&B and hip hop, swing/ jazz, motown, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, rock, drum n bass, garage, cultural music (Spanish/ latin/ tango, Indian, Scottish, Chinese) and more!

If you have pre-booked another DJ I can guarantee I will be able to free style over any music the DJ plays.

In the evening, I will be DJing and playing sax live throughout the night. All DJing is mixed, beat matched and based on your requests and reading the crowd. I will be playing sax throughout the DJ set, getting involved on the dance floor, and interacting with the audience as much as possible!

During the night (depending on your chosen package) I will often have a DJ accompaniment who will DJ for me whilst I am playing sax on the dance floor- usually only 2 or 3 songs at a time.

However if I am performing solo, I will be playing sax and DJing all the music myself, which means performing shorter sets on the dance floor with the sax before returning to the booth to mix in the next song.

If you have booked the advanced package, throughout the day I will also be playing sax alongside backing tracks or pre-mixed DJ sets with background music played through a speaker. If you would like to discuss a bespoke package including live DJing during this time please let me know.

Absolutely! You are free to decide on as much of the music selection throughout the day as you would like. Once the booking is confirmed I will ask you to complete the entertainment form which is a short document in which you can select your preferred genres throughout the day and night; this should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete.

Depending on your chosen package you will have a certain amount of special requests which I will learn for you. For further detail on music please refer to the Sample Evening Playlist and my Sax Repertoire. You will be able to pick as many songs as you would like from these documents.

If booking the Standard or Advanced package, I would also ask you to put together a request list for the evening DJing; ideally this would be between 50-100 of your favourite songs you would love to have played on the night.

The best way to do this is via Spotify (you do not need to have the paid version to do this); simply create a playlist and make sure it is selected, then click the 3 dots next to the “play” button, and select share > copy playlist link. You can then paste this into an email and forward to me.

As a full-time musician, music producer and DJ, I strive to ensure that you will have the very best experience possible on your big day, be that your wedding, birthday party or corporate event.

I have been ranked a top 10 UK DJ and a top 10 UK Wedding DJ by the UK’s #1 Entertainment Agency, Alive Network, and I am the #1 Saxophonist & DJ on LastMinuteMusicians.com. I am the recommended/ resident DJ & Saxophonist at many top wedding and events venues throughout the UK, and have over 150+ 10/10 written testimonials, with a 100% full satisfaction rate. All of the reviews can be read here.

The performance I provide is highly interactive and this is what makes it unique and separate from a typical wedding band or DJ. As you will see from my professional promo videos and live videos on facebook, I always play sax on the dance floor, in the midst of the crowd, interacting with the audience and guests to amp up the energy and keep this going throughout the night.

As an artist, I have gained a following of over 200,000 on social media platforms and am also verified on multiple platforms. I have released various original sax & house music singles, multiple pop covers on soundcloud and youtube, as well as a music cover which has become the most popular sax cover of that track (All of Me) on soundcloud. I have also released a full 11-track live jazz album (Playin’ it Cool).

I also have a separate “DJ/ producer” alias as Daniel Chase, on which I produce dance & pop music and currently have 10 singles released. I currently have over 35,000 monthly listeners from 90+ countries, and my music is regularly played on BBC radio. I have also been interviewed on BBC alongside Jonas Blue.

Having performed at 500+ events since becoming a professional performer, I have had experience playing at most wedding venues across the UK and to hundreds of different crowds, with different backgrounds, musical tastes and ages. I have performed for celebrities, mayors and huge corporations and I bring this level of experience to each and every event I perform at.

As for my instrument, I have been playing the saxophone since the age of 9 and have the highest grade of musical achievement, grade 8 with distinction. I graduated from Chetham’s School of Music, one of the UK’s most prestigious music institutions, having won the Music Tech award and being the only student to record and release a full jazz album at the age of 18.

Because I have no other commitments other than performing, practicing, creating music and other music-related activities, it means I am able to improve on my skill every day and I can devote all my time and attention to giving you the best performance possible. I can play sax and DJ in every popular genre and this versatility means that I will be able to accommodate any specific musical tastes you may have.

Unlike many mobile DJs or bands, I do not have a “standard set” for a night and each night will be completely different, based on what music the crowd is responding to and your own personal preferences. The Sample Evening Playlist is there to give you a wide range of choices in deciding exactly the kind of music you would like to hear on the night.

In addition to this, the setup I provide is exceptional in regards to the quality of music and lighting equipment. All equipment I use throughout the entire day and evening is of the highest standard; the kind of equipment used at concerts, festivals and clubs.

I endeavour to make each party I attend a truly unforgettable experience and I will ensure that your every wish is met and expectations exceeded throughout your special day!

The outstanding payment can be paid at any time but is due at latest one week before the event.

For corporate events payment must be made in full at the time of booking.

Yes, please let me know if you would like to book extra hours and I will send you a quote, or if you would like to book extra hours on the night, please bring cash as this will need to be paid prior to the extra hour starting.

During the drinks reception breaks are usually 10-15 minutes long; however there may be a longer break if you are having group photos as sax is usually not suitable during this time. During the wedding breakfast I usually play 2×20 minute sets with breaks in between for speeches etc.

Yes, background music is always provided between sets!

Certainly! I have a wide selection of musicians I work with and manage through the two agencies I own (Elite London LTD and Wedding Sax DJ), so please do let me know if you would like to book an additional musician and I will send you through my top recommendations.

Site visits will not be required- as long as the venue has access to power, and a sufficient, safe space for the equipment this will be everything needed to ensure a great performance.

I understand that there is a huge amount of time and effort involved in wedding planning and therefore I have tried to make everything as easy as possible for you. Nearly all possible music, logistics and timing details etc. are covered in the documents I will send you (Sample Evening Playlist, Sax Repertoire, the Entertainment Form and this FAQ).

If you do need to go through any details and you feel it will be easier to call, just let me know and we can schedule a time to go through everything.

In order for you to make an informed decision, I have over 25 videos you can watch of my performances in various places. You can find links to all my promo videos here and plenty of live videos here.

You can also read 150+ written testimonials here.

Please provide 2 main meals for myself and my assistant DJ if booking the Standard/ Advanced package. If booking a sax only package please provide one main. One lactose & gluten free for me if at all possible- my assistants will usually eat anything!

Please reserve main meals for before the evening party begins (usually during the wedding breakfast), as during the evening we will be focused on performing!

Please allow 9ft width by 3ft depth for the DJ setup. Also please ensure that there is a hard flat surface with a level gradient for safety of the equipment. At least 2 metres of height is required to be able to fit all the equipment inside the room.

Power wise, please ensure that there is at least 8000W of power available, or two separate power sockets from different points.

A stage is not required, although if you have access to one then it is suggested.

No, I have worked in plenty of venues with sound limiters before. This is usually fine, however, if the limit is set very low, then the subwoofers will not be used in order to make sure the limiter is not triggered. This would also generally be the case for very small events with 60 people or less where the extra volume is not required.

Yes, I can accommodate this, however there will be an additional charge for early set up (i.e. before the wedding breakfast)- in this case I will be happy to provide background dinner music and a microphone for speeches if necessary. Please let me know if you would like me to add this to your booking.

The answer to this will vary depending on the type of event, genre of music, and section of the day.

During the ceremony I will usually play alongside backing tracks (no lyrics) unless you have requested that I play over the original tracks, or if the tracks will be more suitable when played with lyrics.

During the drinks reception and wedding breakfast I will usually play alongside backing tracks. An exception is made for chilled house in which I would play over the originals.

During the first dance (and father daughter dance if applicable) I would recommend playing the original track with sax accompaniment if desired.

During the party I will play sax accompaniment over the original tracks, unless you have booked a vocalist, in which case I will play alongside the backing tracks with the vocalist.

My standard attire for weddings, parties and corporate events (during the evening) is a smart

blazer, dress shirt, smart black jeans and smart black shoes- something like this: If booking for the full day, I will usually wear a suit for the first part of the day:

If you have personal preference for me to wear a specific suit, tux or similar for the first part (or all) of the day please let me know.

Yes, I am happy to make any announcements you should require throughout the day, such as introducing the married couple into the wedding breakfast, introducing the speeches, and anything else which you may need to have announced.

Besides announcements, please do let me know if you have any special requirements or anything at all which you would like me to do for you on your special day. It is my goal to ensure that you have a perfect day, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything!
